Acrobat STEM project for kids

Acrobat Engineering STEM Project

The Olympics are in full swing! Pun intended. It’s so exciting to see people performing and competing on such a large scale. And the amount of time and effort it took to get there – I can’t even imagine. I’ll stick to watching and cheering! What’s your favorite event to watch? A favorite in my house is gymnastics!

While I can’t cartwheel across a balance beam or twirl around a high bar, my kids and I made a miniature acrobat at home using straws! This fun activity incorporates both STEM and the Olympics, and is a fun hands-on project for kids. Let’s get started!

For this project, you’ll need:

Bendy straws

Smoothie straws

Straight straws

Pipe cleaner

A push pin

A ruler

Once you have all that, you’re ready to get started! Follow along with the video tutorial:

I hope you had fun making this project! Send a picture or video to me on Instagram or Facebook so I can see how your acrobat turned out!
